An alternative/opposing point of view to Climate Change: https://www.bestvalueschools.com/faq/why-do-some-people-think-climate-change-is-a-hoax/

What environmental responsibilities do we have to the rest of the world?

I believe that it is our responsibility as a species to not interfere with the livelihood of other species. If we are causing a mass majority of populations/species to go extinct, something must change. We should not be causing anything so drastic that the environment shifts as a result. We should learn to coinhabit this planet instead of trying to rule this planet.

What obligations do we have to future generations?

If we don’t actively participate in slowing down global warming/climate change, our future generations will pay the price. For people with families, that is of great concern. I am concerned about all of the living creatures that inhabit this planet because eventually, resources will run out. It is just a matter of when they will run out.

Lastly: Everyone should contribute to protecting the environment. The responsibility of the cost should fall on whoever is polluting and the remaining costs should be covered by taxes/government funding.

I think you make a great point when talking about society ruining our planet by polluting it therefore causing major concerns for our wildlife that ultimately help thrive as humans. A great example would be of the oil spill that happened in the Gulf and all of the organisms it harmed and killed. If we do not start taking better care of our oceans, we will end up losing a big part of our everyday food supply causing for problems later on down the road. Wildlife also helps keep the microbial as well as classic food chains in check so one species does not over populate and eventually take over causing for other important species to die off. If one species gets to populated, t will result in huge issues for all other kinds of organisms who count on these phytoplankton or mammals to flourish.
I also agree with your opinion on how you believe we as a society can help better the situation for protecting the environment. In a perfect world everyone would do their part in assisting to repair the damages we have done to our planet but unfortunately, this is not how the world works. I like your idea of having the problem causer as well as the government helping ensure to fix the damage done but I feel there needs to be a much more severe punishment for those who choose to not obey by the rules. Cooperation’s avoid these laws because of the fact that if they are caught, they can afford to pay the fine and move on with their lives like nothing had ever happened. There needs to be harsh punishment for those who are well aware of the law but go down another path anyways.

I didn’t even consider the consequential effect global warming and climate change has had on endangered species when making my initial post on this discussion. We need to make a collaborative effort as a society to refrain interfering with the habitats of species. Furthermore, we need to monitor our daily habits and the way they affect climate change. If we do not begin to make more of a conscious effort to preserve natural resources, species will become more endangered and will eventually end up extinct. It is on us to take some ownership and accountability to make a positive change to our climate.
